I just discovered not too long ago about stock photo selling platforms, some of which I found called SnapWire and EyeEm. My boyfriend was actually the one who told me about it. Basically you can take a bunch of photos as your "stock" (just think of it as like your digital inventory) and then post them up on any of these platforms and if any of them get selected, you get paid for your photos! They have multiple contests that you may enter to submit your photography to get a chance to win some cash and prizes. It's a fascinating concept and my boyfriend mentioned to me that one of his coworkers makes money on the side selling her photos through one of these platforms. There are actually many sites and apps other than the two I mentioned above like ShutterStock and iStockphoto, which are also widely popular.
Anyways, I started off with posting some photos on SnapWire initially just to try it out but didn't like so much the fact that you had to enter contests to really get any cash. Then, I discovered about EyeEm which was one of the more popular ones where there are both contests and the possibility of getting your photos entered into the Premium Market. Basically, once your photos are selected to enter the Premium Market that's when you get the chance to make money. Every time someone buys your photo, you get 50% of the profits.
I actually didn't know that until today...
Becauseeeeee..... two of my photos from my gallery got selected to enter the Premium Market !!!!!! I just got the below email today and got so excited. Yes, I know that this does not particularly mean that people are actually going to buy it .. (I wonder if people would.. hmm). What gets me excited is the possibility of people buying my photos!! That my friends, brings me the greatest excitement of all. Not exactly sure if this is something I should be getting excited over but whatever, why not? Honestly, I kind of forgot about my EyeEm account for a while now since I just opened my account up about a month ago. I haven't really been posting anything on it besides probably about 15 photos total ? But anyways, it's pretty exciting. I hope people will actually buy it 🙂
Anyways, I just wanted to share it to you guys to tell you about my highlight of the day and also to inform you that you can make money off of your passion for photography for those of you who are interested. This is just one of the numerous ways to make money on the side. I'll link the ones I mentioned below, make sure check it out!
Never stop hustling!! X.O.X.O.
